New Presenter and show

19/11/2019

Writer, musician, composer, nightclub host, curator, actor and adventurer, Richard Strange was born in London in 1951. Since his proto-punk rock band The Doctors of Madness (“The missing link between David Bowie and The Sex Pistols…” wrote The Guardian in May 2017) was first unleashed on an uncomprehending public in 1975 (the band was supported by the Sex Pistols, The Jam and Joy Division) he has been a Zelig-like figure whose presence has been felt in every corner of London's cultural life. Now comes his solo show An Accent Waiting To Happen, an evening of songs, stories, and downright scurrilous gossip from his 40 years in the arts and entertainment world.

ALMOST ACOUSTIC SHOW RETURNS

It's back!!! After an absence of almost two years, the extremely popular Almost Acoustic Show is back, with a new presenter in Cressida Ford.
Our thanks to Ricky Clarke for trailblazing the show and our regrets that his temporary absence turned out to be much longer than anticipated. We sincerely hope to see him back, one of these days.
Meanwhile you can tune in to hear Cressida's show on Mondays at 8pm.

VIEW FROM THE BOW

Very pleased to inform you all that Andy King's blindness has proved temporary and he is well on the way to a full recovery. Andy's View From the Bow programme will be returning in a couple of weeks, on Tuesdays at 8pm.

FM LICENCE APPLICATION

Our application for a community FM licence has been submitted. Over the last six years, Radio Scarborough has grown from a tiny acorn, into a genuine, dedicated community station, that features a broad range of programmes, with hopefully, something for everybody and a workforce of over forty volunteers. The station is supported by business sponsors and partners, together with many community and charitable organisations.
Last Summer, we were visited by Dom Chambers of the Community Media Association, who sang our praises in his monthly podcast, which is widely listened to by those in the radio industry. He was especially complimentary about our youth project, so well done The Radio Scarborough Youth Team ( the oldest is 12, so they're not on here lol)
Getting an FM licence is the next step in growing the mighty oak that can provide our borough with the platform it deserves, to link, promote and serve this area and its diverse community.
